Thinking about where to stay in Wildwood this summer? Wildwood, NJ is one of the most popular vacation destinations on the East Coast, with its beaches, boardwalk, and multiple entertainment options for folks of all ages. With so many accommodation options, choosing where to stay in Wildwood can be a real challenge. We’ve put together this post for you to help you decide based on your plans and preferences.
Wildwood NJ Accommodation Options
Hotels and Motels. There is a huge number of motels throughout the Wildwoods, especially along the beach block and in the heart of town. You can choose from hotels with a 1950s vibe, upscale experiences, or budget friendly options. Many of them have pools and varying room sizes. They’re everywhere, so you can choose something based on your preferred location…the beach block hotels will be costlier than the rest.
Vacation Rentals + Condos. It’s easy to find a wide selection of rental homes on Airbnb, VRBO, and Shore Summer Rentals. These are usually booked for a week’s stay or more, and include many of the amenities of home, such as outdoor spaces, grills, laundry facilities and more. Again, you can find them everywhere, but closer to the beach will cost more.
Bed & Breakfasts. There are numerous bed and breakfast options throughout the island, many of them with a vintage décor and welcoming atmosphere. B&Bs often include fancy items like game rooms and jukeboxes, and they are often very convenient to the best attractions.
Campgrounds. Campgrounds aren’t common on the island itself, but you can find many just a short distance away off of the island. They offer a budget-friendly experience, and can include cabins, tent spots, pools, playgrounds and on-site activities. If you don’t feel like finding parking on the island, there can be lots for kids to do.
The Three Towns (+ Others) of The Wildwoods
Choosing where to stay in Wildwood depends on your preferred location, budget, party size, and preferences. In the Wildwood islands, including the neighboring towns of North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest, you should easily be able to find a place that suits your desires and your budget.
North Wildwood starts at 26th Avenue, and extends to the north end of the island, including the Anglesea area. While a portion of North Wildwood includes the world-famous boardwalk, it’s a bit removed from the noise and activiities of the piers.
The beach at the north end is smaller too…if where to stay in Wildwood is focused on the beach, you may want to avoid North Wildwood. That said, North Wildwood is convenient to the boardwalk and amusements, without being in the heart of the noise.
Wildwood itself is in the heart of the island, and dominates the boardwalk and its amusements and activities, including the fantastic rides and water parks of Morey’s Piers. It might be best for families looking for fun, since it’s essentially walking distance to all of the major attractions.
Wildwood Crest is the southernmost of the three towns. It begins at Cresse Avenue, which is the southern end of the boardwalk. As far as where to stay in Wildwood, Wildwood Crest is more upscale and quieter, and might be better for couples looking for a quiet getaway. You can find many of the fancier and high end dining experiences in Wildwood Crest.
Enjoy your stay in this great town!
